The play and TV series were adapted from the novels of E F Benson who took as his model the town of Rye. The play revolves around the arrival in town of Lucia and her best chum Georgie. Up until now, Miss Mapp has been the queen of Tilling society but she can see herself having to take second place to Lucia - something she is not used to and has no intention of becoming used to. |
